Hareon Solar to develop 100 MW of solar capacity in China’s Jilin province
Sep 5, 2014 - China's Hareon Solar Technology (SHA:600401) said today it has entered into a cooperation agreement with the city of Baishan to get assistance for the installation of 100 MW of photovoltaic capacity in China’s Jilin province.
Hareon, which makes solar equipment and also develops, builds and operates solar projects worldwide, will build 50 MW of distributed generation (DG) solar systems and will add another 50 MW of ground-mounted power plants to Baishan’s portfolio. This will require an investment of some CNY 1 billion (USD 163m/EUR 126m).
The Baishan municipality will provide sites for the installations and assist it in getting approvals and incentives. Hareon, on its part, will finance, design and build the solar systems.
The company noted that this investment is in line with its long-term expansion strategies for China and worldwide. Hareon in August announced several other expansion initiatives, totalling some 4.8 GW of capacity.
