Hanwha SolarOne unveils new 50-MW module supply order in China

Sep 9, 2014 - China’s Hanwha SolarOne Co Ltd (NASDAQ:HSOL) said today it will supply 50 MW of its solar photovoltaic (PV) modules to Baotou Shansheng New Energy Co Ltd for projects in the Inner Mongolia region.

This deal is Hanwha SolarOne’s second such module supply agreement with thermoelectricity cogeneration company Baotou Shansheng, which is a fully-owned unit of Inner Mongolia Shanlu Energy Group Co Ltd. The first 50-MW order was received last month.

The modules supplied through both deals will be used at ground-mounted projects located in Hohhot and Baotou. Deliveries under the second contract will start in October and are expected to be completed by the end of the following month.

“We anticipate further momentum in our China business as the Chinese government has formalised its 13 GW target for solar installations in 2014 and outlined last week some critical steps to support distributed generation,” said Jay SEO, Hanwha SolarOne’s CFO.
