Hanwha Q Cells agrees 50-MW Indian JV, confirms Philippine order

Photovoltaics (PV) maker Hanwha Q Cells Co Ltd (NASDAQ:HQCL) said on Wednesday it will form a joint venture with India’s Azure Power to invest in a 50-MW solar project in Andhra Pradesh.

The Indian solar park is expected to be completed by March 2016 and will have the capacity to power some 18,000 homes.

Hanwha Q Cells also confirmed it will participate in a 28.6-MW solar projects in the Philippines developed by a unit of Belgian firm Enfinity NV. On Monday, it was announced that Enfinity Philippines Renewable Resourses Inc has hired Indian firm Sterling & Wilson Ltd to build the plant and that the developer will use 310-Wp Hanwha solar modules for the project.

The solar farm on Mindanao island will be able to generate about 40 GWh of electricity per year, or enough to cover the annual consumption of around 9,000 homes.
