Jul 4, 2014 - Chinese firm Hanergy Solar Group Ltd (HKG:0566) said yesterday it is planning to change both its Chinese secondary name and its English name.
The company’s board proposed to change the English name of the company to Hanergy Thin Film Power Group Ltd in order to underscore its engagement in thin-film solar technology. Hanergy Solar expects that this will provide new development opportunities for the company, as well as a new image and a more extensive recognition on the market.
The company, a unit of Hanergy Holding, makes equipment and turnkey production lines for amorphous silicon thin-film PV modules and also develops solar projects using thin-films in China, the US and Africa.
Both name changes will take place only if Hanergy’s shareholders and the Registrar of Companies in Bermuda approve the move. They will take effect once the new names replace the old ones in the register. The change will not affect the rights of shareholders, nor will it have an impact on the operations and financial position of the company, it said.
