October 4 (Renewables Now) - Clean energy company Hanergy Mobile Energy Holding Group Ltd recently inaugurated an automated production line for its HanTile solar roof tiles at the Guiyang Mobile Energy Industrial Park in China’s Guizhou Province.

The company said in a statement that the new production line is the world’s first of its kind and that it uses Copper-Indium-Gallium-Selenide (CIGS) thin film solar technology, combining flexible thin film solar chips with high light transmission glass.

Hanergy cited data from China Brick and Tile Industry Association, which claims that the HanTile market has a potential size that could reach trillions of Chinese yuan per year. According to Hanergy, the HanTile solar roof tile weighs just 5.2 kg but can bear 1.7 tonnes pressure or withstand level 12 of typhoons power.

Also recently, a ceremony was held to mark the installation of the first batch of 300-MW CIGS thin film solar core equipment at a 600-MW industrial park in China’s Anhui Province, Hanergy noted.
