Gujarat looking for 700 MW of solar in new tender

Indian utility Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) is seeking proposals for 700 MW of grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) capacity within the Raghanesda solar complex.

According to the Request for Selection (RfS), announced last week, the capacity will be installed under Phase III of the Raghanesda solar complex in Banaskantha district. Bids are due by November 15.

The projects will be developed on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis and will be allocated under three plots, two with capacities of 250 MW each and one of 200 MW. Each bidder will be able to bid for one out of five capacity combinations -- 700 MW, 500 MW, 450 MW, 250 MW or 200 MW, with bidding allowed only for the full capacity of a specific plot.

Successful developers will be awarded 25-year power purchase agreements with GUVNL. No ceiling tariff was announced in the RfS document.

Last month, a 500-MW solar tender by GUVNL attracted bids as low as INR 2.44 (USD 0.034/EUR 0.029), matching the record low for Indian solar tariffs, first set in May 2017. The winning tariff was quoted by Aditya Birla Renewables and Giriraj Renewables (Avadaa), Mercom Capital Group said, citing a GUVNL official.
