Ground-mount tariff falls to EUR 82/MWh in France's 800-MW PV tender

The energy ministry of France announced on Friday the 212 winners in its 800-MW solar tender, in which the average tariff for ground-mounted systems fell to EUR 82 (USD 89) per MWh.

The tender targeted projects of above 250 kW, including rooftop arrays and building-integrated systems, solar canopies on parking lots, and ground-mounted parks. The winning projects reached up to 12 MW in size.

The table below shows the average tariffs in the separate categories and the change in these tariffs when compared to the previous solar tender in France.

These 212 projects represent nearly EUR 1 billion in investment and, once installed, are expected to generate about 1.1 TWh annually, the ministry said.

In August, France doubled the targeted capacity for that tender to 800 MW because of the significant interest. The country is preparing to auction for 800 MW of photovoltaic (PV) power in 2016 and 1,450 MW in each of 2017 and 2018.
