Oct 5, 2012 - US renewable energy firm Greenwood Energy said Thursday it had set up a North America-focused joint venture with Greek solar engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services provider Biosar SA.
The entity -- Greenwood Biosar -- will provide turnkey solar power solutions to utility- and medium-scale customers. Greenwood Energy's interim chief executive Camilo Patrignani said that the addition of EPC capabilities through the formation of the joint company was expected to strengthen Greenwood’s position in the North American renewable energy market.
The services offered by the joint venture will include preliminary design, technical and implementation studies; securing permits, engineering and construction; integrated facility management; and operation and maintenance of solar parks.
Greenwood Energy is the North American renewable energy division of Singaporean investment holding Libra Group (SGX:5TR).
Biosar, which is a wholly-owned unit of photovoltaic projects EPC services provider Ellaktor (ATH:ELLAKTOR), owned by the Ellaktor Group, has a portfolio of projects in Greece, Italy, Romania and Bulgaria with total installed capacity expected to surpass 300 MW by the end of 2012.
