GreenVolts to use Henkel technology for solar product protection

Aug 30, 2012 - US solar system provider GreenVolts Inc will use the Aquence Co-Cure technology of German company Henkel AG & Co KGaA (ETR:HEN3) to ensure lower cost protection against corrosion and ultraviolet-damage for its solar components.

In a statement today Henkel said it had worked with GreenVolts and Dutch chemicals group AkzoNobel NV (AMS:AKZA) to adapt a process that layers the Aquence autodeposition coatings with Akzo's powder topcoat and "co-cures" them in a single oven.

According to the German company, that process will provide improved quality finishes, higher durability and ultraviolet protection for the life of solar products. Furthermore, the process is good for the environment as it does not include any heavy metals or sludge and consumes less water and energy than other processes such as galvanisation, Henkel said.
