Portuguese renewable project developer and power producer GreenVolt - Energias Renovaveis SA (ELI:GVOLT) intends to install 56 MW of wind and solar plants and 3 MW of energy storage capacity in Poland and sell the assets sometime next year.
The company said on Thursday it will add the capacity as part of two projects and is now moving to the construction phase.
Under a scheme called Sompolno, the Portuguese firm will build a 26-MW wind farm and a 10-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in the city with the same name located in Konin County, Greater Poland Voivodeship. The power generation capacity will be coupled with 3 MW of battery storage. GreenVolt expects commercial operations at the Sompolno site to be launched in the first half of 2024.
Near the city of Opalenica, in Greater Poland Voivodeship’s Nowy Tomysl County, three solar parks will add 20 MW of power generation capacity. The complex is due to go online in the third quarter of 2023.
GreenVolt explained it will divest both assets before their completion so as to meet the high demand on the market.
“The decision to build these two projects in Poland is completely in line with GreenVolt’s strategy of taking advantage of the high demand for assets ready to operate, confirming the capacity of our team to develop projects until the construction stage and generate value through our asset rotation strategy,” said CEO Joao Manso Neto.
