Denmark’s Everfuel A/S (FRA:0HR) and Norway’s Greenstat AS plan to create a hydrogen hub in Kristiansand, Norway, with an initial 20-MW electrolysis capacity that will be later expanded to 60 MW.
The announcement about the development of Hydrogen Hub Agder, made by Everfuel today, follows a cooperation agreement between the companies from July 2021.
The project will be implemented by a 51/49 joint venture between Everfuel and Greenstat. The partners have already applied for funding from government enterprise Enova.
The first phase, expected to produce 8 tonnes of green hydrogen per day, should be commissioned in late 2024, with the second stage seen to be online in 2027.
The hub is intended to supply the shipping sector but also mobility and industrial customers.
Everfuel and Greenstat are partnering with Elkem ASA (FRA:1DP) for the lease of land at the seafront on the Fiskaa industrial compound near the harbours in Kristiansand. Glencore Nikkelverk is set to offtake the excess oxygen. A number of parties, including Holland-Norway Lines, FFS Marine and Arriva Shipping, as well as Asko Agder and Implenia, have signed letters of intent to offtake hydrogen from the project.
