Greengo chooses Wesii for aerial photogrammetric and topographic surveys: accelerating
the development of renewable energy plants

Bologna, October 3rd 2022 - Greengo, a professional development platform of high quality renewable energy utility-scale plants with 1.4 GW of capacity in various stages of development, has chosen to rely on Wesii's remote sensing services for topographic surveys. The survey covered a total area of 3,400 hectares in Sicily and Calabria for the development of 17 wind and photovoltaic greenfield initiatives with a total capacity of 390 MW.

Wesii - an Italian start-up founded in 2016 - provides state-of-the-art photogrammetric and remote sensing services, including data acquisition using drones and aircraft equipped with multispectral sensors and high-resolution cameras. The service is designed to be fast and flexible thanks to Wesii technology, capable to generate a wide range of reports for any need: while photogrammetry provides 3D morphological models, remote sensing provides data of what has been captured, such as crop and solar panels health for agrivoltaic projects.

In addition, Wesii can also provide support monitoring the progress of plant construction as well as their health during operation, with periodic thermographic analysis with aircraft or drones.

Throughout Wesii's contract, the morphology of the area was modelled using aerial surveys and providing digital maps in a georeferenced CAD-gis environment for energy, civil and plant design, as well as for a survey of anthropic elements and infrastructure located near the sites.

GreenGo used the state-of-the-art services provided by Wesii for topographic surveys required for the design of its pipeline plants, achieving as a strategic result the acceleration of the plant design process with a standardization of the quality of topographic analyses usually conditioned by individual site surveys and requiring significant post-production activity.

“We benefited from the innovative services offered by Wesii to carry out topographic surveys on our relevant portfolio that is under development in Calabria and Sicily. The aerial surveys carried out allowed us to accelerate the design process and consequently represents a real boost towards the permitting process," says Fabio Domenico Amico, Partner and Director of Origination & Engineering, GreenGo. "The high-resolution aerial images have also enriched the territorial knowledge and documentation for Environmental Impact Studies, vegetation characterization and assessment of the visual impacts on the landscape."

"We are proud to have collaborated with a top-level player such as GreenGo, who has a strong engineering expertise and a diversified pipeline across multiple technologies" says Roberto Barletta, CSO, Wesii. "We are thrilled to have exploited of our technology to support photovoltaic and wind plant development, hoping to accelerate the Italian energy transition.”
