Greenbacker Renewable Energy Company LLC (GREC) has bought an 80-MW pre-operational solar farm in Utah that has a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) in place with utility PacifiCorp on behalf of Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB).
The renewables investor acquired the asset, held by Graphite Solar I LLC, from rPlus Energies LLC for an undisclosed amount.
“Graphite Solar, now our largest solar acquisition to date, is indicative of growing scale within our portfolio,” said Charles Wheeler, CEO of Greenbacker.
The solar park is being built in Carbon County and is expected to reach commercial operations in the final quarter of 2021. The PPA with PacifiCorp was developed under Rocky Mountain Power’s Schedule 34 green energy tariff, according to the announcement.
Counting Graphite Solar I, Greenbacker’s portfolio amounts to 915.4 MW, including 641.7 MW of utility-scale and distributed solar, 242.6 MW of wind, 19.1 MW of battery storage and 12 MW of biomass plants. A month ago, the company announced the purchase of the 80-MW Fall River Solar project in South Dakota from Houston-based power producer Broad Reach Power LLC.
