Greek Public Power Corp enters final phase of solar project tender
Sep 12, 2011 - Greek Public Power Corp (ATH:PPC) last week launched the final phase of its tender for a strategic partner to jointly build a 200-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) facility in northern Greece and a solar panel factory.
The utility is expecting proposals by the beginning of 2012, as it plans to start construction next summer. "The selection of the strategic partner will be made on the basis of the best financial offer and in accordance with the total rating of every bid," PPC said.
In January 2010, PPC said it was looking for a strategic partner for its solar power ventures in Western Macedonia. In July, it unveiled that 15 of the 21 companies and consortia that submitted offers had met the acceptance criteria. Chinese Yingli Green Energy Holding Co Ltd (NYSE:YGE), German Siemens AG (ETR:SIE) and a consortium formed by Japanese Toshiba Corp (TYO:6502) and Mitsubishi Corp (TYO:8058) are among these 15 companies.
