Global Solar Energy opens PV modules factory in Germany
(SeeNews) – Aug 30, 2011 - US photovoltaic (PV) products maker Global Solar Energy Inc said on Monday it has opened a 35 MW factory for flexible thin-film PV modules in Germany.
The factory is situated in Berlin Adlershof, a science, technology and media hub near the capital. It spans an area of 2,100 sq meters (22,600 sq ft).
Currently the company has hired 60 and expects to add another 100 jobs by the end of 2011. Modules are being produced in two shifts, which may become three in the third quarter of the year.
The modules are based on the copper, indium, gallium and diselenide (CIGS) technology and according to Global Solar Energy can achieve an efficiency of up to 12.6%.
