November 17 (SeeNews) - The solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation capacity globally will grow to 223.2 GW by the end of 2015 from 175.4 GW a year earlier, with China being, again, the leader in terms of annual installs.

According to research and consulting firm GlobalData, China will add roughly 17.6 GW of PV this year. The US comes second in annual deployment with 8.2 GW. India will also enjoy strong demand thanks to the significant support for solar energy there.

In Germany, however, installations this year will again miss the government target of 2.4 GW-2.6 GW. GlobalData expects just about 1.8 GW to be deployed there. Japan will also fall notably behind its 2014 record of 10 GW because of the significant reductions in feed-in tariffs (FiTs) there.
