GES secures EPC, O&M job for 20-MW solar project in Spain

Global Energy Services (GES), a Spanish construction company, announced that it has been awarded a contract to build a 20-MW solar farm in Plasencia, Spain.

The contract includes operation and maintenance (O&M) of the plant for at least two years, GES said. The job was awarded by Spanish renewable power retailer and emerging developer Capital Energy.

GES is to provide a full scope of EPC services for the La Solana project, including the supply of panels and the construction of infrastructure to evacuate the plant’s electricity.

The La Solana solar farm will occupy 34.5 hectares (85.3 acres) of land in Caceres province, Extremadura region. The project will use 37,500 solar panels, 669 trackers and four transformers.

La Solana is the first solar project for Capital Energy, which in early May announced it had launched construction at the site. The project also represents the first collaboration between GES and Capital Energy, the contractor added.
