Two separate tenders for wind and solar capacity in Germany, both with a bid date of October 1, resulted in 555 MW of awards and showed that investor interest remains skewed towards solar energy.
The wind tender volume stood at 670 MW, but it got just under 400 MW of bids. The solar tender, in contrast, was three times oversubscribed, the Federal Network Agency, also known as the Bundesnetzagentur, said today. Details are available in the table.

The top three regions for wind capacity secured in this tender are Bavaria with 69 MW, Brandenburg with 63 MW and Lower Saxony with 42 MW. The list of successful bidders includes Juwi, Enercon and Abo Wind, among other players. Of the 57 awards, nine are for community wind projects.
Bavaria and Brandenburg were also the most popular regions for solar projects with total of 21 successful bids, out of the 37 awarded in the tender.
The Bundesnetzagentur has launched another tender in which onshore wind and solar will compete against each other. It will award 200 MW, with the deadline for bids being November 2. The first mixed tender in the country this year, concluded in April, was won solely by solar projects. The average quantity-weighted bid value for wind then arrived at EUR 72.3 per MWh, while for solar it was much lower at EUR 48.2 per MWh.
