(SeeNews) – Oct 6, 2011 – German solar inverters maker SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92) will take action against the weakening market and reorganise its business by the end of this year, CEO Pierre-Pascal Urbon said in an interview with German daily Handelsblatt published online on Thursday.
The plan is to transform the company from a functional organisation into a divisional one, in order to serve customers quicker and better. In the future, one division will take care of the customers from the utility sector, which are constructing large solar plants, another division will handle customers specialised in classic roof-mounted solar systems and a third division will focus on the business with solar-power-based isolated applications.
The restructuring is expected to secure SMA Solar's sustained growth.
The company is currently battling tense competition and the pressure on prices. According to Urbon, the market uncertainty is high and that is caused among other thins also by the eurozone crisis.
He is not very optimistic about the global market in 2012, expecting only moderate growth. The CEO reckons a stagnation of the market cannot be ruled out.
