Dec 19, 2011 - German solar module maker Avancis said on Friday it will increase its production capacity six times with the opening of its second factory in Torgau, eastern Germany.
The 100 MW manufacturing facility was built for 18 months. With the new factory the company will now be able to produce over 800,000 CIS solar modules per year at full capacity on an area of 25,000 sq m (269,097 sq ft).
The factory started production of CIS thin-film solar modules which are to be introduced on the market in the first quarter of 2012.
Avancis will raise the number of its employees to almost 500 from currently 250.
