Dec 11, 2014 - US firms GeoPeak and Marina Energy have put on stream a 6-MW solar park in New Jersey for health, nutrition and chemicals company DSM.
The photovoltaic (PV) facility was installed at DSM’s plant in the town of Belvidere, Warren County, DSM said in a statement on Wednesday. Marina Energy provided financing for the park's construction and will be its owner and operator.
The Belvidere solar plant is expected to generate about 6.4 million kWh of electricity per year and offset over 4,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. According to the developers’ calculations, its output will be enough to meet between 30% and 40% of the DSM manufacturing site’s power needs at peak production. In addition, DSM expects to save over USD 290,000 (EUR 233,000) per year in electricity costs.
The PV panels at the plant were glazed with DSM's proprietary KhepriCoat anti-reflective glass coating, which can boost power output up to 4%, DSM noted.
