February 10 (Renewables Now) - Geo Green Power, a UK renewable project developer, has installed a 200-kW solar photovoltaic (PV) array for Volmary Ltd at their site in Cambridgeshire.
Volmary Ltd, part of Volmary GmbH, sells young plants and seeds. The newly-installed solar system will produce electricity for irrigation, lightning and water pumps at its greenhouses. Consisting of 716 PV panels, the solar array will produce 190 MWh of power a year and save 85.5 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually.
The solar system will help the company reduce its energy bill by 25%. It sells any electricity it does not use to the power grid, Volmary's financial director Jaems Banton said.
In addition to installing PV systems, Geo Green Power also constructs ground source heating systems and biomass boilers.
