Genneia to sell renewable energy to private company, 1st in Argentina

Argentine energy company Genneia SA said that it will start selling renewable energy to local cement maker Loma Negra early next year thanks to the addition of 24-MW to its Rawson wind park (PER).

This will be the first time renewable energy is being sold by a private company to a private company in the country, Gennia announced on Tuesday.

As PER's expansion is expected to be completed by December, Gennia will commence power supply from January 1, 2018 under an agreement that runs through December 31, 2037. This deal was signed back in September 2016, but could only take effect after the 27,191 regulation for the sale of renewable energy to large users was okayed by the Ministry of Energy and Mining.

Gennia said it can now enter more new private energy sales agreements for projects in its 500-MW ready-to-build wind portfolio.
