General Membrane, MiaSole to offer waterproof PV system

June 30 (SeeNews) - Italian firm General Membrane SpA and Silicon Valley-based MiaSole have teamed up to offer a new product that combines waterproofing membranes for rooftops with flexible solar modules.

General Membrane said today it plans to integrate MiaSole’s flexible thin-film CIGS (Copper Indium Gallium Selenide) FLEX module into a new solution for both new and existing, flat or sloping rooftops. The modules will be adhered to a bituminous or synthetic waterproofing layer.

The company explained that MiaSole’s FLEX module is suitable for that purpose because of its low weight and the ability to fully integrate the panel into the membrane, conforming to curved surfaces and offering resistance to wind.

MiaSole is part of Hanergy Thin Film Power Group. The company's thin-film flexible modules have an aperture efficiency rating of up to 17%.
