GE to supply 22 MW of wind turbines to Mexican Comexhidro
Jul 27, 2012 - US General Electric Co (NYSE:GE) on Thursday said it would supply 22 MW of wind turbines, eight 2.75-MW units, to Mexican hydroelectric company Comexhidro.
The machines will be used for a wind farm that will generate electricity for public lighting in the municipality of Santa Catarina, in the state of Nuevo Leon, northeastern Mexico. Comexhidro is responsible to the construction and operation of the facility. Conduit Capital Partners, a US private equity firm focused on the power sector in Latin America and the Caribbean, is providing an investment.
GE cited estimates of the Mexican Wind Energy Association that put the country's wind energy potential at over 50 GW.
