September 6 (Renewables Now) - General Electric (NYSE:GE) is investigating the collapse of a wind turbine at the 54-MW Delta 6 wind farm in the Northeastern state of Maranhao, owned by local renewable energy company Omega Geracao SA.

This is the second accident GE has had in the country this year. The first one took place in July, in Pernambuco state, at an Echoenergia wind park.

The turbine at Delta 6 fell to the ground while the company was conducting maintenance works, injuring one worker in the process. The reason for the accident is still to be identified and both GE and Omega have stated that a thorough investigation is being conducted.
