Solar-focused firm GCL New Energy Holdings Ltd (HKG:0451) said Friday it has selected the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors for three Chinese photovoltaic (PV) schemes totalling 140 MW.
The combined value of the separate agreements amounts to roughly CNY 1.02 billion (USD 164m/EUR 150m).
GCL New Energy chose local firm Nanjing CNI Energy Engineering Co Ltd to construct two of the solar farms. The latter will receive CNY 336.6 million for its work on the larger project - a 50-MW facility in Yunnan province’s Menghai county in Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture. It will also build a 40-MW PV park in Tianchang city, Anhui province for an additional CNY 275.2 million.
The other 50 MW of solar capacity will be installed in Shanxi province’s city of Yangquan. Chinese PV product maker Sungrow Power Supply Co Ltd will provide the EPC services for the Yu county plant under a CNY-412.5-million contract.
GCL New Energy started as a printed circuit boards maker and is now involved in the downstream renewable energy field with a focus on solar power. It plans about 7,500 MW of new solar capacity for the next three years.
