Gamesa to install 70-MW wind park in Uruguay

Spanish wind turbine maker Gamesa (BME:GAM) said on Tuesday it has been awarded a contract by Areaflin for the turnkey construction of a 70-MW wind farm in Uruguay.

Gamesa will supply, install and commission 35 of its G114-2.0 MW turbines at the Valentines wind farm in the departments of Florida and Treinta y Tres. In addition, the company will also carry out the needed civil works and electrical installations.

Commissioning of the wind park is scheduled for the third quarter of next year. Gamesa will operate and maintain the facility for a period of 15 years.

Including this latest order, the Spanish firm currently has contracts and agreements for the supply of 170 MW in Uruguay, where it has installed 150 MW to date.

Areaflin is a corporate enterprise owned by Uruguay's state utility UTE.
