Gamesa bags 198-MW order in Mexico for new wind turbine

A Mexican power utility has ordered 198 MW of Gamesa’s (BME:GAM) new G132-3.465 MW wind turbines for a local project, the Spanish company announced on Wednesday.

Gamesa will supply and install 57 units of the specific turbine model, part of the company’s new 3.3-MW platform that was introduced one year ago. This is the first contract involving the G132-3.465 MW turbine, which is designed for medium and medium-low wind speed sites, it said.

The first prototype of the G132-3.465 MW machine was installed at the research and development (R&D) facility in Alaiz, Navarra late last summer. The company expects to start serial production of the model next year.

Gamesa says that this turbine delivers 50% and 30% more energy when compared to the G114-2.0 MW and G114-2.5 MW, respectively.
