French govt cuts FIT incentives for large-scale solar farms
Nov 12, 2012 - The French government decided last week to retroactively reduce feed-in tariff (FIT) for medium to large-scale photovoltaic (PV) systems by 20%.
The FIT for PV systems up to 12 MW in size was cut to 0.0840 (USD 0.107) per kWh from EUR 0.1024 per kWh, effective as of Oct 1, 2012.
French solar energy association Enerplan has strongly criticised the decision, which was taken without consulting the sector players and is seen to endanger the industry, which relies on large projects.
According to Enerplan's president Thierry Mueth, no large farms will be launched at the new resale price.
The government has, on the other hand, introduced bonuses of 10% for tariffs concerning smaller projects which use European panels.
