France "freezes" photovoltaic power plants for three months
(ADPnews) - Dec 13, 2010 - France on Friday published a decree imposing a three-month moratorium on licences and power purchase contracts for new photovoltaic (PV) projects eligible for the country’s feed-in tariff (FIT).
The French government is currently working on a new regulatory framework for the preferential power purchase of solar power, with the aim to reduce costs for the support of the renewable energy sector.
According to French media reports the feed-in tariff for photovoltaic power will be cut significantly as of March 2011.
The halt does not apply to residential installations of 3 kW or less in capacity.
Also, projects that have already paid for grid-connection before December 2 will be allowed to receive the 2010 feed-in tariff.
