August 3 (SeeNews) - First Solar Inc (NASDAQ:FSLR) has sales bookings of 121 MW direct current (DC) of thin film modules for utility-based community projects in the US, the company said Wednesday.

The solar major said that several of the projects, 41 MW DC to be more specific, are already under construction with M+W Energy in charge. Other projects are yet to be announced. The name of the owner remains undisclosed.

“This scale of community solar implementation is extraordinary, and suggests the enormous potential for this market segment,” commented First Solar CCO Georges Antoun.

M+W Energy is building a number of small, closely sited solar parks and more schemes are expected to enter the construction phase by the end of the year. Once up and running, the parks will sell their power to a regional utility’s consumers through a special community solar programme, First Solar said.
