(SeeNews) - Mar 27, 2014 - Spanish builder FCC (MCE:FCC) has been awarded a contract for the construction of a 50-MW hydropower plant (HPP) in Costa Rica by Italy's Enel Green Power (BIT:EGPW).<br /> <br /> FCC also won an order to build a sewer in Costa Rica's capital, with the two contracts having a combined value of EUR 70 million (USD 96.2m), the company said in a statement.<br /> <br /> The hydropower project, located in the town of Chucas, will include the construction of a 230 m-long (754.6 ft) dam with a capacity of 190,000 cu m (6.9 million cu ft), FCC added.<br /> <br /> FCC will also be in charge of the construction of a spillway, access roads and a bridge over the reservoir as part of this project, which is expected to be completed in May 2015.<br /> <br /> The two projects have doubled the orders backlog of FCC in Costa Rica, which currently amounts to EUR 150 million and includes road and bridge upgrade and hangar construction contracts.<br /> <br /> (EUR 1.0 = USD 1.375)
