European Energy unit to co-develop 2 GW of US solar with Elio

The North American subsidiary of European Energy A/S has entered into a partnership with fellow renewables developer Elio Energy Group LLC to work on a 2-GW pipeline of solar and energy storage projects in Arizona and its surrounding states.

EE North America announced this in a statement on Thursday, without providing details on specific projects. Its new partner has a large pre-development pipeline amounting to 6 GW.

Construction work on the co-developed projects is seen to begin gradually in the period 2023-2025.

Last month, Copenhagen-based European Energy said that its North American business was following plans to develop 10 GW of renewables in the US by 2026 and was initially targeting 1 GW in Texas. Green hydrogen and e-methanol investments are also on its radar.

"In addition to our expertise in renewable energy, EE North America offers a range of commercially mature and financially viable energy solutions that can help address sectors of the economy that are difficult to decarbonize, including transportation, shipping, and industry,” stated Lorena Ciciriello, CEO of EE North America.
