Enviria, Galileo team up for gigawatt-scale solar JV in Germany
November 24 (Renewables Now) - German solar energy start-up Enviria Solar GmbH and pan-European renewable energy developer Galileo Green Energy GmbH are setting up a joint venture to develop solar parks across Germany with the ambition to add about 1 GW of projects to its pipeline annually.
Galileo Enviria Solar GmbH will be focused on utility-scale ground-mounted solar photovoltaics (PV) power plants, covering the entire value chain, including planning, financing, realisation and management. The joint business will have about 25 employees.
The financial details of the partnership were not disclosed.
With the newly-launched business, Enviria and Galileo will support Germany’s energy transition and the country's plan to add on average about 20 GW of solar capacity every year, the companies highlighted in their joint statement.
Enviria itself earlier in 2022 teamed up with newly founded green energy group Q Energy with a plan to co-develop a 500 MW portfolio of ground-mounted solar projects in Germany.
The German start-up comes as the latest joint venture partner attracted by Galileo this year. The investment platform earlier in November joined forces with renewables developer Source Energie to develop more than 5 GW of renewables and energy storage projects in Ireland, Norway and the UK.
