Weekly renewables M&A round-up (Aug 2-6)
Aug 06, 2021 17:18 CESTAugust 31 (SeeNews) - US microinverter maker Enphase Energy Inc (NASDAQ:ENPH) has started shipping its AC batteries to customers in Australia and New Zealand.
The company said on Tuesday its distributors project sales of 70,000 batteries in the region over the next 12 months, which has prompted it to revise up its production plans.
"The demand from both installers and homeowners for the Enphase AC Battery in the lead up to its debut in Australia and New Zealand has exceeded our expectations," commented Nathan Dunn, managing director of Enphase Asia-Pacific.
The AC Battery is a key element of the company's home energy solution that combines solar generation, energy control and storage. Enphase says the modular size of each 1.2-kWh battery gives flexibility to size installations in a way matching homeowners' individual energy needs.
Australia is seen as a high potential market for distributed energy storage. IHS Markit recently projected that Australia and Japan will have the highest overall energy storage penetration in 2025 -- more than 5% of installed power capacity.
