July 11 (Renewables Now) - Engie Energia Chile SA (EECL), a unit of French utility Engie (EPA:ENGI), signed on Tuesday an agreement to supply renewable power to Chile's telecommunications and IT services company Grupo Gtd.

EECL will deliver, starting in September, the equivalent of 72 GWh per year, which is enough to cover 100% of Grupo Gtd’s needs at its data centres, corporate buildings and operations throughout the country. The source for green power was not disclosed in Grupo Gtd's press release.

Currently, EECL has similar supply contracts with local construction company Cementos BSA and mining firms El Abra, Codelco, Complejo Metalurgico Altonorte SA and Compania Minera Lomas Bayas.
