Power producer Engie Energia Peru SA, part of French energy utility group Engie SA (EPA:ENGI), last week announced that it had secured USD 150 million (EUR 123.4m) in financing for its Punta Lomitas wind farm project.
The company said it closed the agreement with a number of financial institutions, and will use the funds to cover part of the investment costs required for the 260-MW wind farm development. Punta Lomitas will represent a total investment of around USD 300 million, Engie Energia Peru added.
In March, the power producer was granted a definitive concession from the Peruvian government to build and operate the Punta Lomitas wind farm, Engie’s first in the South American country.
Siemens Gamesa was tapped to supply 50 units of the SG 5.0-145 turbines, while Spanish engineering and renewables group Abengoa SA was selected to build the transmission lines for the project.
Punta Lomitas will be located in Peru’s Ica province. Engie Energia said it expects to launch construction in the second half of 2021.
