Aug 11 (Renewables Now) - French energy group Engie (EPA:ENGI) is reportedly discussing a solar-ready roofs collaboration with India’s building solutions company Everest Industries Ltd.

Business daily Mint said today, citing informed sources, that the partners would focus on solar-ready roofs whose design, load and angle make them perfect for solar rooftop installations. Manish Sanghi, managing director at Everest, has confirmed to Mint that the company has launched a solar roofing business and is in talks with potential partners.

The Indian government has set a target for the country to have 40 GW of solar rooftop installations by 2020. A recent report by sector consultancy Mercom India Research shows 475 MW of rooftop installs in the first half of 2017. At that pace the target will be unachievable.
