France’s Engie SA (EPA:ENGI) and European space company ArianeGroup on Thursday said they want to help decarbonise heavy-duty and long-distance transportation by working together in the field of renewable liquid hydrogen.
ArianeGroup has years of experience with liquid hydrogen-based propulsion systems and related ground facilities, and Engie has expertise in liquefied gases. Their joint R&D programme includes the development of a hydrogen liquefier at ArianeGroup’s facility in Vernon, France, the testing of optimised liquefaction technology, and the development of products and services on the liquid hydrogen line with a focus on maritime and inland waterway applications.
“At a time when hydrogen is playing a key role in the recovery plans of France and Germany and for the European Green Deal, we are looking forward to working on concrete projects with our industrial partners, local authorities and institutional stakeholders,” ArianeGroup CEO André-Hubert Roussel commented.
