(ADPnews) - Nov 9, 2010 - Brazilian power holding company Energisa (SAO:ENGI3) is in the final phase of negotiations for the acquisition of turbines for its wind farms in the northeastern Rio Grande do Norte state, Claudio Brandao Silveira, the company's financial director, said on Friday.
The four wind farms, to require BRL 540 million (USD 321.4m/EUR 230.8m) investments, are seen to come on stream between the end of 2012 and the beginning of 2013.
They will have an installed capacity of 150 MW and are currently in a process of obtaining environmental licences for installation.
The units sold energy at the A-3 auction in August and have the right to commercialise 68.7 MW average through long-term contracts.
Energisa is also currently finalising the construction of three small-scale hydroelectric power plants, which total 31.2 MW installed capacity, in Rio Grande, in the southeastern Rio de Janeiro state.
Also, it studies the construction of a wind farm in Paraiba state and a number of small-scale hydroelectric plants, with installed capacity of 54 MW, in the next years.
The holding company plans to invest BRL 1.2 billion between 2010 and 2012.
In the nine months through September, it spent BRL 173.5 million on distribution projects and BRL 82.1 million on energy generation ones.
