August 16 (Renewables Now) - German-Swiss power producer EnergieDienst Holding AG (SWX:EDHN) has acquired Swiss solar specialist Alectron AG to strengthen its position as a solution provider for renewable energy.
Based in Ruswil near Lucerne, Alectron offers solar systems for roofs as well as heat and electricity storage solutions. The partnership with the new owner will open up new markets and sales opportunities for Alectron.
With the takeover of the Swiss company, Energiedienst is gaining strength to meet the rapidly increasing demand for solar solutions, said Energiedienst Holding's manager Michel Schwery. The companies in the Energiedienst group generate green electricity primarily from hydropower and sell electricity and gas under the NaturEnergie brand. The group is already active in the residential solar segment and offers products and services in the areas of photovoltaics, heat and electromobility, including e-car sharing.
The financial terms of the deal were kept under wraps.
Alectron will continue to operate as an independent business unit with former owner Josef Grueter and Silvio Gely at the helm.
