November 4 (SeeNews) - Italian renewables developer Enel Green Power SpA (BIT:EGPW) said on Wednesday it has hooked to the grid the 30-MW Dois Riachos wind farm in the northeastern Brazilian state of Bahia.

The said plant represents the first part of the 118-MW Serra Azul wind power complex to come onstream. The 30-MW wind park will be able to generate more than 140 GWh of electricity per year and thus supply over 70,000 local homes.

The other three facilities that will make up the larger complex, which is worth USD 220 million (EUR 202.4m) in total, are the 30-MW Damascena, 30-MW Manicoba and 28-MW Esperance wind farms. Together, the four plants will be producing over 500 GWh annually, or enough to power about 280,000 households. Most of the complex’s output will be sold on the regulated market.

Enel Green has borrowed money from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Itau Unibanco SA to help finance the project, it noted.
