Endesa Chile's Canela wind park sets new production record
(ADPnews) - Oct 21, 2010 - The Canela wind park of power utility Endesa Chile (SCL:ENDESA) set a new daily record of electricity generation on October 15 with a total 1,398.7 MWh produced.
Previously, the highest output achieved was 1,356.8 MWh on July 12.
The good operating management of the park and the favourable climate conditions in the region were key factors for the new record of the wind park.
The facility is the most important for Chile's central transmission system SIC, supplying energy to more than 90% of the country's population.
At the end of the third quarter of 2010, Canela, which has an installed capacity of 78.15 MW, registered an output of 108,149 MWh, which translates into a reduction of 61,610 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
The complex is located in the Choapa province and consists of the 18.15 MW Parque Eolico Canela wind mill, operational since the end of 2007 and the 60 MW Canela II, which was put on stream in December 2009.
