July 12 (SeeNews) - Austrian firm SmartFlower energy technology GmbH on Monday announced a partnership with Massachusetts-based Energy Management Inc (EMI) that will bring its all-in-one solar system to the North American market.
Under the deal, EMI will make a "major investment" in SmartFlower and will create SmartFlower North America to market the SmartFlower solar systems in the US, Canada and Caribbean Islands.
SmartFlower said that more than 1,000 units of its patented solar product have been installed at homes and businesses since it was launched in Europe in 2014. Its US debut will be at Intersolar US this week in San Francisco.
The SmartFlower system fans out its solar panels at sunrise to 18 sq m (194 sq ft) and automatically cleans itself. It then follows the sun throughout the day using dual axis tracking. The output of one SmartFlower is equivalent to a 4-kW rooftop system. It also has integrated batteries and can store energy.
