Eli Lilly to get more solar power in Ireland

Bioenergy Power Systems Ltd, trading as Enerpower, has submitted an application for a 5.1-MW solar project in County Cork, Ireland, to the east of the Eli Lilly & Co (NYSE:LLY) pharmaceutical plant in Kinsale.

In July, the two companies announced the opening of a 5.6-MW solar facility near Kinsale to supply almost 6 GWh towards Lilly’s annual electricity consumption. The new project at Ballythomas East is an extension. If permitted and built, the solar photovoltaic (PV) plant will also supply its output to the US pharmaceutical company’s local operations.

A decision on Enerpower's planning application is expected in early October.
