Nov 23, 2011 - US solar and wind power developer Element Power yesterday said it had set up a solar energy subsidiary, called Element Power Solar (EPS), to respond to the opportunities in the global photovoltaic solar market.
"In the rapidly evolving market of solar energy, Element Power is concentrating its solar expertise in a distinct business unit," said the group's executive chairman, Pedro Barriuso.
Element Power's portfolio of solar projects includes 40 MW of operational capacity and more than 2,000 MW of development-stage projects in Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia.
Fully-owned by Element Power, EPS is based in Portland, Oregon, and has offices in Madrid, London, Verona, Mexico City, Chile and Charlottesville, Virginia.
Element Power has put Paolo Pietrogrande in charge of the subsidiary, appointing him as EPS chairman. Pietrogrande has held executive posts at Kinetics Technology International, Bain and General Electric. He was also founder and chief executive of Enel Green Power, chairman of Atmos Holding and of Solar Energy Italia, and executive chairman of Gamesa Solar/9REN Group.
