Spanish infrastructure and energy group Elecnor SA (BME:ENO) will be in charge of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) works for a 137-MWp solar plant project in Australia.
Named Bungala One, the photovoltaic (PV) plant will require an investment of AUD 189 million (USD 142.28m/EUR 132.16m). It is owned by a joint venture between Enel Green Power SpA and Dutch Infrastructure Fund (DIF), which bought the scheme from a unit of Australian developer Reach Solar Energy Pty Ltd earlier this month.
Part of the three-stage, 374-MWp Bungala Solar complex, the Bungala One PV plant will use more than 437,000 solar panels, spread over an area of around 250 hectares (617 acres). When completed, the plant should be able to meet the annual power demand of 39,000 homes and to offset 198,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
According to Elecnot, the park will be operational in the third quarter of 2018.
Located north of Port Augusta town, South Australia state, the Bungala complex is the largest PV project ever developed in Australia and also the largest built by Elecnor, the company noted.
The capacity of all projects is shown in direct current (DC).
