Elecnor proposes green hydrogen project at Spain's A Coruna port

Enerfin, the wind power arm of Spanish infrastructure builder Elecnor SA (BME:ENO), has filed a petition with the Port Authority of A Coruna, northwest Spain, seeking a concession to build and operate a green hydrogen production plant on the port’s property.

The Green H2 Langosteira plant would be located at the Outer Port in Punta Langosteira and use renewable energy generated on-site. The proposed facility would also have a hydrogen filling station.

The resulting green hydrogen could be used to fuel heavy-duty vehicles and port machinery, or in industrial processes, Elecnor said.

Elecnor expects the plant to start operation by the end of 2023.

The project is part of the A Coruna Green Port initiative, which the port authority launched with the goal to become a decarbonisation hub and a reference point for the supply of green hydrogen in the region, the company added.
