In 2050, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) projects that total US solar capacity, which includes both utility-scale solar and rooftop solar in the commercial and residential sectors, could range from 532 GW to 1,399 GW. In its <a href="https://www.eia.gov/outlooks/aeo/" target="_blank">Annual Energy Outlook 2023</a> (AEO2023), it presents 16 scenarios, or cases, that project long-term energy trends in the United States through 2050.
